Andi + Seamus: Painted Hills, Oregon Adventure Engagement Session

You don't really get to know someone until you're stuck in a car with them in a totally foreign place trying (unsuccessfully) to ascend a steep gravelly grade... with no cellphone reception. So, you could say I now know Andi and Seamus really, really well. Ha! But that's a story for another day.

For everyone who hasn't seen this beautiful, alien landscape, the Painted Hills are one of Oregon's seven natural wonders. Believe me when I say that these photos don't do their beauty justice. When you turn into the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument Park, it looks like the rest of Eastern Central Oregon, until you round a bend and then there it is.

Our trip also happened right in the middle of the attempts to contain the devastating Eagle Creek Fire that happened in the Columbia River Gorge, and even though we were over a hundred miles away, the smoke was still thick enough to give the crazy hazy skies you see here.

I really love it when my clients are not only willing, but excited to visit somewhere new for their session! Being new to Oregon myself, I jump at any chance to go on a road trip, and will certainly be a tourist in my own state for the rest of my life.

Thanks for the adventure, you two! And can't wait for your big day in June!

-Rebecca
